Reminiscent of Chocolat and Like Water for Chocolate, a gorgeously written novel about life, love, and the magic of food. I absolutely adored this book, I loved the culinary descriptions (in fact, I often found myself hungry while reading this story). The book follows the lives of eight students who gather in Lillian’s Restaurant every Monday night for cooking class.Through sections told in each character's voice, the reader learns what brought the person to the class, and how the class is changing them, alternating between reflections of their past and what is happening in the present, Lillian seems to know just what her students need to learn, and the lessons transform not only their culinary skills but also their lives. This book is definitely meant to be savored, like a fine wine. It's also a lot like a great meal in that you enjoy it while you're eating it, but you don't want it to ever end.
